We will also be organizing a Literature program at the ANMA/NAeSA
Joint Convention 2008. This Program is categorized into three parts.

  • Poetry Festival
  • Publication of "Yeti View Points" (Publication team with the assistance of Mr. Anirudhra Shrestha )
  • High School Level Essay Competition

    • Poem Recitation (Competitive and non competitive):
      • International Nepali Literary Society Nebraska chapter Joint Annual Convention Poetry Festival Committee invites poets to submit their poems by August 15, 2008 to be included in poetry competition and INLS Janardan-Lila Acharya Poetry Competition awards. In order to participate in the Open Poetry Competition:
      • Poem must be in Nepali language, original and unpublished.
      • Poets must be present in person (If the poet is not present, his/her poem will not be included in the contest. If time is available, the poems of the absentees can be recited as noncompetitive. Poems in English can be read out as noncompetitive.
      • Poem can be in any subject and style.
      • Please indicate whether your poem is competitive or non-competitive.
      Prizes for INLS Janardan-Lila Acharya Poetry Competition awards:
      Cash Prize, as follows with Certificate:
      1. First prize - $100.00
      2. Second prize -$60.00
      3. Third prize - $50.00
      4. Fourth prize - $40.00

      Poet can also recite their poem in English and any other regional/Nationalities languages such as Newari, Maithali, other ethnic languages as a Non Competitive poem recitation

    • Meeting with Well known Nepali litterateurs
      • Well known Nepali writers, poets will be participating during the festival. They will talk about Nepali literature and its importance. If you are aware of any well known writers from Nepal visiting United States and are interested in participating, please contact coordinators mentioned above.
    • Book Bimochan
      • Writers who has published their books recently is encouraged to submit their books. Books will be introduced to the audiences and this will be the good start for the book promotion.

  • Publication of "Yeti View Points"

    This is a Newsletter/Magazine containing articles and information about Nepal and Nepali Culture. In addition, the magazine will also include essays, stories, travelogues and many more title of interest to Nepali living abroad. The goal of this publication is to give a bird's eye view of Nepal and Nepalese cultures to both non Residence Nepalese and friends of Nepal living abroad. This publication will contain about 45-50 pages of literature and have enough room for business/advertisement material.
    • This magazine is one of the Convention's souvenirs and each registered visitors will receive a copy. This will be a perfect media outlet for the business advertisement. Hence, businesses are highly encouraged to advertise / sponsor this magazine's publication. Pricing for the advertisements are as follows:

    • Writer's can submit their writings in both Nepali and English. If you have hard time typing in Nepali, we have volunteers for conversion, simply scan your paper and send an attachment. Please submit articles and poems by July 31, 2008.

  • Essay Competition

    Essay Competition is for High School students studying in the United States. Essay will be about Nepal and the topics and prize amount for this Essay Competition will soon be finalized. This will give student to do research about Nepal and can be a good project for a summer break. This competition is designed to let students explore their writing skill, learn about Nepal and utilize their summer break in a constructive way. Winning essay will be published on "Yeti View Point" Magazine.
